Logo Design

NMFX recently completed work on a new logo for one of our clients. Atmosphere Productions were looking for a variation on their existing text based logo. The business owner had a font he really wanted too use but wanted to include an icon that could be used on it's own as well as including colour.

I delivered my usual logo treatment, which is to start with various concepts and then working with the client discard and refine to produce the basic black and white design. This is then developed in stage 2 by adding colour.  Usually, I try to keep the colour selection simple and am guided by a) the needs and style of the business and b)  the client's preference.  In this instance, the client wanted to see a dark red, light red and mid blue variation. Of these, we opted for the blue variation. Blue is generally considered a 'technical' colour within the industry and the shade of blue is a calm reassuring one.

The design was then moved to stage 3 which is too develop a full-colour 3d render of the logo. At this point, the logo changes from being a vector graphic to a raster. This is a very important distinction. Vector images are generated by the application  and exist as mathematical code. In this way, a vector image can be sized up or down and the original quality will remain consistent. A raster image though is comprised of pixels which means the image is resolution dependant. A HQ version of the logo is developed for use on graphics and media which can then,  if required be developed further into video animation for  exampl

With this process, the client receives logo variations that can be used in any context. From a basic black and white for simple printing and photocopying through to simple colour suitable for mass printing and embroidery to a final full-colour 3d logo for websites, social media, digital printing and more.
